The Institution Venutai Chavan Pratishthan was established in 1989 for Social,Cultural & educational welfare of Ambajogai & the surrounding area. This institution opened Arts & Commerce Mahila Mahavidyalaya in this city on 7th August 1990 in a very adverse condition to provide higher education & bring about overall personal development of the female students from rural area.
This city is also known everywhere in our state as a Seat of Learning and also having great educational,cultural traditional heritage.We can’t forget the contribution given by the great personalities like pujya Swami Ramananda Teerth & Pujya Babasaheb Paranjape for freedom struggle of Hyedrabad. We have to mention Mukundraj Swami & Dasopant who created literary heritage in Marathi literature.
Before the establishment of this college, this city had co-educational other colleges. Due to some social restrictions particularly the rural female students were deprived of the higher education. Opening this only college for female students in Ambajogai Taluka, our instution has provided a new opportunity to them. A number of female students are having their higher education in a successful manner as well as in a healthy atmosphere .We are proud to say that the female students from rural area have got facility of higher education. We feel that this college should not be only higher education oriented at the same time it should be a forum of women’s movement. We are trying our level best to give fair & free education to the students that will enable them to face the new challenges in the future. Keeping this attitude in the mind, we are making the efforts to increase the quality of higher education continuously. I would like to mention in respect of this college that there were only 40 female students at the time of the commencement. The graph of the students’ strength as well as the quality is being increased continuously.
At present there are 11 Departments at Under Graduate level & 05 Departments at Post Graduates level .Our college is running various courses for the personality development of the students sanctioned by the UGC. The college aims at academic and human excellence of its students and works accordingly.
The date of recognition by UGC under section 12B is 29 feb 2008.
